About Us

Picture
The Palmerston North Christian Leaders Association Inc. (also called PNCLA or CLA) is a non-profit organisation whose primary aim is to promote events that advance the spiritual, educational and social well-being of Christian leaders, churches and associated organisations, and of the community of Palmerston North city and surrounding area in the Manawatu region of the North Island of New Zealand.
Originally starting life as a ministers' association in the mid-1990s, the association was then constituted as the Palmerston North Christian Leaders Association in April 2008, was registered as a charitable society with the Charities Commission in July 2009, and became an incorporated society in November 2009.

The PNCLA is governed by an Executive Committee of senior church leaders who do so in line with the beliefs, aims, objectives and values of the PNCLA.

The PNCLA meets regularly either for all members, or in subgroups with a common interest, such as Church Leaders, Prayer Intercessors, or Women Leaders.

PNCLA's mission statement:

The PNCLA is a relational body that serves Jesus Christ, promotes church unity, prays and strategises for our city's well-being.

PNCLA's values:

1. To affirm that there is one church in Palmerston North and that we are
committed to walking together, rejecting isolationism.
2. To encourage our congregations to actively participate in Christian
unity and mission across denominational boundaries.
3. To commit ourselves to pray for each other and fulfil Christ’s desire for
    spiritual unity.
4. To affirm the right of individual Christians to determine before God
which particular local church they will belong to.
5. To walk humbly and not assume that we have the final interpretation
    of all matters of doctrine.
6. To affirm fellow ministers and leaders with grace and refrain from
criticising each other in public, but to go to one another privately with
    any concerns.
7. To care about the welfare of each other.
8. To uphold Biblical standards of integrity and compassion.
9. To strategise for city transformation.

PNCLA's strategies:

Building ministry relationships
Sharing information and resources
Encouraging one another
Arranging city-wide events
Prayer initiatives
Engaging in dialogue with civic leaders
